WRITE LOCAL. PLAY GLOBAL is the ASSITEJ international playwrights network, connecting writers of theatre for young audiences from around the world.

 

 

Cape Town: A Sense of Place -
Orientation activity for playwrights - Write Local, Play Global
A playwriting activity to encourage artists from around the globe to respond to their impressions of Cape Town through a monologue especially written for young audiences, each set in a very particular place in the city. The activity will culminate in a public sharing and discussion.

 

Theatre for Social Change Playwriting Slam - Write Local, Play Global
Celebrating the world’s diverse playwrights for young audiences, these are live readings by the writers in a relaxed setting. Each consists of ten to twelve plays, with five-minute readings from each script, read in the writer’s first language.

Inside New Visions New Voices - Transforming New Play development for Young Audiences - Write Local, Play Global and South African playwrights: Tamara Guhrs, Jon Keevy,  Lereko Mfono, Mojalefa Mlambo and Koleka Putuma.
A panel discussion of a successful initiative to develop new writing for young audiences through international exchange at the John F. Kennedy Centre. With readings from some of the South African plays developed through this process.
